This a great walk especially on a sunny day with stunning views throughout. The route starts off along the flat, firm sands from Filey Beach for approx 4 miles before climbing steeply up to the cliff tops at Speeton. The going for the next 2-3miles is undulating along a generally narrow path before emerging in the RSPB Reserve at Bempton. From Bempton and around Flamborough Head the path is wide and firm and generally easy going with long level stretches. The last 3-4 miles are more difficult with some steep descents down to sea level and hard pulls back up to the cliff tops. Fortunately, there are planty of steps to make the going easier. The final mile is a gently roll in to Bridlington and along the promenade.
At 20 miles its quite long; however, there is the option to drop out at Flamborough and take the bus to Bridlington. There is also the option of cutting Flambourough Head out at Bempton Cliffs and walking straight to Bridlington. The route can be tackled from either direction; therefore it can be planned to fit around tide times. I would estimate the walker should avoid the beach section an hour and a half either side high tide. Trains leave Scarborough on the hour to Bridlington and return at three minutes past the hour. Because we were staying in Scarborough we bought a day return for £5.50 each and on the way out got off at Filey (15 mins). We then came back from Bridlington to Scarborough after the walk (37 mins).ead out at Bempton and walking Hea
