I’ve just seen that well known presenter Jay Blades has been charged with controlling and cohersive behaviour towards his wife, and to be honest it’s worried me a bit. I don’t know if he’s guilty or not, and to be honest I couldn’t care. I retired a year ago at 56 years old and have a pension from the military. My wife retired at the same time aged 54 years and has no pension at all. We both live off my pension, a bit of interest income and a few pounds from YouTube and Amazon Kindle. We have no mortgage and no dependent children.
At the time of retirement I asked my wife if she wanted a regular monthly allowance or something, just so that she had an income to call her own. She said, ‘no, just give me some when I need it.’ This has worked fine for the last year. I settle all the bills, pay for all the shopping, car tax, maintenance, fuel etc. She just buys a coffee with her friends and an occassional breakfast. If she needs a top up I just ‘ping’ her £200. The arrangement works just fine.
Of course the problem is that we live in a very woke world and lots of millenials are going to see this as extremely controlling and cohersive behaviour and a violation of her human rights. I am slightly worried that one day some left wing lunatic lesbian judge is also going to see it this way too and i’m going to get flecced, or worse still, get violated in jail………oh what a strange world we live in…..!
